Pokemon Mystery Dungeon - Explorers of Darkness for Nintendo DS is the most recent renewal of the Mystery Dungeon series of games. This series was essentially a prison level after another, until you escape a prison. The dungeons are randomly generated, so you'll never see the same twice. So, you are assured of variety of play.

The premise of the Pokemon version is that you (the main character), have been transformed into a Pokemon and are now in Mystery Dungeon world. What you need to know to do is explore the dungeon, until you find an answer to the mystery of what happened to you and why this happened to you.

You can start as one of more than a dozen types of Pokemon, depending on the answers to questions for the beginning of the game. Then, you slowly gain more pocket monster friends who will help you in your search for answers. The battle mechanics of the system and moves mostly recycled from the old games, so there will be much more of a learning curve for all you Pokemon fans.

I bought this game for one of my grandchildren a few days ago, and has not stopped playing with it since. He says that the game was much easier than you might expect the Mystery Dungeon series is known to be extremely difficult. He was really happy about this change, and also the fact that you can call support through the Nintendo DS Wi-Fi capability every time he dies in prison.
